Capt. Steven Lamp of Dream Catcher Charters in Key West, Florida fishing report.

What a pretty day here in Key West. We wait all year for days like these. Its not hot, all day out there is a blessing and fun to fish. Our Key West fishing report is shaping up to be a great week coming up.

Backcountry and Flats Fishing Key West

In the backcounty and out to the Marquesas things have improved ten fold over the deluge of last week. the chalky waters are cleared up and the fish are a chewing as they often do post storm. Our captains are reporting great catches right after the storm ofhuge lady fish, nice size blue fish, some lemon sharks and large jacks. Fun times with rod bending excitement. After the water cleared it was noticeably cooler but not cold, just right for the bonefish and permit to come back on the flats and make some lucky angler happy with shots or better yet a catch of a lifetime.

This weeks forecast backcountry and flats fishing Key West

Steady fall like temperatures will prevail. Some frontal conditions will show up later in the week with some northerly flow and a better than nothing chance of rain. Should be dry, nice and cool with temps reaching the lower 80’s most days making PERFECT flats fishing conditions. In the past late October and early November are stellar for shallow water fishing with the big three (tarpon permit and bonefish) as long as we don’t get a big bad nasty front to chill us.. so far so good.. we have an added bonus of our winter time species showing up early to. A great way for the anglers here at Dream Catcher Charters to heat up those brand new Daiwa reels we are getting in.
