Backcountry Flats Fishing Report Key West

Hi kids.. been busy here at Dream Catcher Charters in the backcountry . We ran so many trips over Christmas week it was incredible and the weather was absolutely amazing.

In those trips we saw many smiles and great times like it was Christmas day every day for our customers here fishing and living the dream here in Key West. From permit to sharks, to lady fish, huge jacks, trout and pompano the fishing here in Key West out in the backcountry and on the flats has been amazing.

But lets talk about what is coming up. January.. Colder but way better fishing. with the cooler air January ushers in with is the cooler water temps. Locking in our winter time fishing. January here in Key West can hold many surprises out on the flats and backcountry. Warmer days look for tarpon in the harbor of Key West. They showed last week over Christmas and we were able to gift a couple to some of our clients that wanted to try for them. This week though we have a big bad nasty from with some really chilly temps that will bring our water temps down a bit.. Bad news? Not At All. Cooler water temps means better fishing here in Key West with cobia, permit, sharks, barracudas on the flats and larger trout and some redfish. Nice Huh? Some of our fishing charters here in Key West we are able to catch over 20 species of fish 18 inches and up. This time of the year is a great time to visit and go fishing in the Marquesas islands. Pure beauty and magic with many different hard fighting species to fish for.
