Weekend Update Week Forecast

Jumping Tarpon This Guy Is Super Excited About Tarpon Season..

Great weekend for fishing here in Key West. The weather was amazing and we were stacked to the board with trips. Mostly flats and backcountry fishing this weekend in the fog. Foggy days were prevailing across our Florida skies and making it eery out there but a nice change of scenery.

Jump For Joy For An Early Tarpon Season…..

Jumping Tarpon

This Guy Is Super Excited About Tarpon Season..

Tarpon Fishing – Every so often winter tarpon find their way into our harbors channels and creeks.  Here at Dream Catcher Charters we have been on them daily till the weather changes and dictates them to move back out. Tarpon Ranging in size from 40 – 150 lbs are being spotted in our little special spots. We are not just ready yet though to jump up and start booking tarpon fishing trips. I expect the next cold front will push them back out with cooler waters and windy days.

Backcountry  Fishing and Flats Fishing – Epic.. snook, redfish, tarpon, permit, jacks and more are the menu with an occasional cobia.

Casting for Key West trout is solid with a mix of nice sized mangrove snappers.

Our snook fishery has improved greatly over the years, we may even start running some snook fishing trips. I will tell you this.. Snook will remain a catch and release species here at Dream Catcher Charters even after they allow us to keep one. The fishery is just to young here in Key West and needs to populate.

Reef Fishing has been solid as well. Its not as cool as we like it to be but the tuna cam on real strong this weekend and gave some of our people a great time with Black Fins over the deep wrecks.

Fishing FORECAST….

Winds from the winds will pick up this week. 20 – 25 mph through Thursday. New moon comes this week and picks up the flow in the tide.. Epic flats fishing conditions with the big water for permit and barracudas.. Expect the tarpon to take off during the blow from the North then return when Easterlies continue sometime around Thursday is my guess.

Our schedule.. We have lots of open slots in our books.. And if we cant help you.. Don’t fret we know every fishing guide in Key West that is worth fishing with and can get you hooked up with them for no extra charge. We bank our reputation on them, so you know they are good at what they do.
