Kingfish Key West On The Reef

January 9th 2014 – First big chill of the year comes to Key West. Water temps where they should be.. Fishing is great.

Here at Dream Catcher Charters we specialize in taking people fishing. Be it offshore, inshore or on the flats in the backcountry we do it all. I am happy to report that all of our arenas of fishing are doing well.

Grouper is Closed in the Atlantic Waters till May – Just a reminder..

Kingfish Key West On The Reef

Deep Sea Fishing the kingfish have finally made it to the reef. Sailfish are productive and ready to eat along with a ton of blackfin tunas out in the deeper waters. With the south winds the dolphin bite improves and adds lots of color to the box. Boats are getting sold out for later in January. Call Gennifer to get on one of the Key West fleet of sport fishing boats. This is a GREAT time of the year to fish blue waters.

The reef bite is doing very well now that the cold weather has come in for winter. Snapper love a chill and it turns them on. we are catching nice yellowtails and muttons on the reef the days we can get out there.. The reef can be fished from our sport fishing boats mixed in with a day of trolling or on board a 30 ++ foot center console boat that is fast and versatile. We get out to the reef in our bay boats as well to save our anglers some money but if it is blowing and rough… your best bet is one of our nice center consoles. Call Gennifer to set this up for you.

Inshore on the flats before the cold we had some tarpon being caught. Our guys here at Dream Catchers caught the first, second and third tarpon of the year in the second day of the year. Thats an awesome way to start off the new year. Since the cold front came through the hopes and dreams of tarpon are quelled for the time being. However.. a warm south wind for a few days with some humidity will bring our tarpon back up and put them on the feed. The rest of the backcountry has great trout fishing mixed with pompano, bluefish, lady fish and mackerel. Fun times for sure.. then add the possibility of a cobia and you have a wonderful day of fishing.

Backcountry fishing charters are still the hands down favorite this time of the year in numbers of trips run with anglers. The calm waters, affordable price tag and high volume of fish are very appealing to our anglers. Call Gennifer and she will get you hooked up.
