Tarpon In Key West – Still?

August 17th 2014 – Yes you read it right. We STILL have tarpon here in Key West. The tarpon season is well past over with the exception of a few stragglers that are making the way down the beach looking lost and very lonely. We have a good amount of tarpon in the backcountry.

If the number of tarpon we have caught in the last few days are any indication of the number of tarpon here in Key West then we are still in it red hot. Many of our fishing charters here at Dream Catcher Charters have been producing two a day tarpon to the boat. Just yesterday Saturday the 16th. Capt. Tommy and his anglers launched 5 fish in the air and put two to the jaw for a release. Thats a hell of a day in August for tarpon fishing.

We do not expect this trend to change any time super soon but it will fluctuate. When booking a fishing charter please understand the inconsistent nature that is Tarpon Fishing here in Key West especially in August.
