Tarpon Fishing Update

Tarpon Fishing Report For Key West Florida

Tarpon boatside

The migration continues here in Key West with tarpon still moving through the area in good numbers. The weather has been holding up well for some great fishing with winds from the East South East at about 15 keeping things a little less than hot out there looking for the silver king.

This year was not the best year I have seen for tarpon fishing on the flats, however we had some great times out there with our clients. Most of our successful fishing was done in the channels and deeper waters where the tarpon have been moving through and eating pretty well for our charters that target them. The bite got a little bit more difficult during this past full moon with the early morning and later evenings being best. I favor the later evening trips during the full moon for tarpon.

We generally have exceptional tarpon fishing throughout the summer months all the way into September. The tarpon are found in all of our backcountry spots that we fish for them in.

We will book tarpon fishing specific charters all the way till August. After that it will be per case scenario based on the bite and what we are seeing in the trends.
