Super Soggy Memorial Day Fishing Key West

Key West Memorial Day Soggy Rainy Forecast

Key West weather Key West weather this morning May 25th 2018. A soggy Memorial Day fishing forecast for Key West.

May 25th 2018 – Ok, this is gonna Suck.. After a super soggy last weekend we have been watching all the computer models cook up a tropical system over the Northern Carribean sea saying it was going to roll from the Yucatan Peninsula up through the Gulf and find a landing somewhere about the pan handle of Florida, Alabama or LA. Welcome to Memorial Day weekend 2018 where the Computer models ushered in our first tropical rain maker to squash most of our plans for fishing in Key West.

Weather map

From Mikes Weather Page and NOAA. This is that tropical Thing We are dealing with.

So Let Me Start With These Bullet Points

  1. Its Gonna Rain.. ALLOT!   Through Monday..
  2. Its Gonna Blow.. 30 mph on Sat – Sun out of the South.
  3. Its Gonna Rain… ALLOT….

I hate doom and gloom forecasting. But, the reality is, we have a tropical system that will wring it’s self out like a sponge over our little islands for the next three days. I am telling you this because you are looking for a fishing report for the Key West area, I am a realist and you want to be informed.

Deep Sea Wreck And Reef

Deep Sea Fishing in Key West Today expect a ton of rain on the reef and deep sea waters with light wind squalls moving through every 30 minutes. Good news, no lightning yet. Tomorrow expect the winds to come up to over 30 mph from the South. That will make for some rough conditions with seas over 6 ft.

The sailfish bite was rock solid before the rains, we are hoping to hold on to that next week. The reef fishing bite was tough with dirty water on the reef. Next week things will get calm and summer patterns will continue.

Backcountry Flats Fishing

Tough to intolerable conditions will prevail. I am looking out my window just now as Capt. John and Capt. Tommy here at Dream Catcher Charter just pulled into the dock with their peeps, an hour and half early. Conditions currently is just straight up down poor without much wind. I am sure if those two fishing guides went out and came back early, there must not be any tarpon fishing bite to speak of.

Sight fishing the flats of Key West for tarpon, permit or bonefish will be impossible today and even harder tomorrow when the winds start.

So, all that said.
There is your Soggy Key West Memorial Day weekend update..

Plan Accordingly..
