Our Very Own Island Genn With A Nice Dolphin

April 29th 2013 – Deep sea fishing report for blue water..

The dolphin (mahi mahi) bite has finally come on hard here in Key West. Several boats over the weekend experienced a larger than life bite that seemed to keep going. Large fish were caught up to 50 lbs with averages in the teens on several of our trolling deep sea boats making our anglers very happy.  On top of that we had one of our boats go 2 for 4 on sailfish rounding out an exceptional day of fishing.. The dolphin are not too far offshore but a 6 – 8 hour trip is recommended for your best shot to catch them.

This week the weather coming up is going to be amazing. light chances of tropical rain showers but the winds are dropping to a seasonable 5 -10 mph. Perfect for a nice day of deep sea fishing here in Key West.

Give Island Gennifer a call to book your day out offshore. She has 10 deep sea sport fishing boats at her call and she will make sure you get on one of the good boats.

Winter Bonanza

January 25th Interim fishing report for Key West at Dream Catcher Charters

Cobia

Key West Cobia Caught With Dream Catcher Charters Capt. Kyle Kelso

The Winds are Up.. Key West Fishing is Great! We have our whole fleet on the water making waves as well as catching fish.

Great report coming in from Capt. Kyle Kelso of Dream Catcher Charters. Fishing the patch reefs with MirroLure lipped plugs Yellowtail Snappers, Mutton Snappers and Grouper are all the fun on the edges. Casting will get you a mixed bag of hard hitting great fighting fun fish. Yellowtail snappers are quite large this time of year on the shallow reefs. Nice feature when the wind is blowing so you don’t have to get out very far to have some fun… Back in the backcountry Capt Kyle got into a MESS of cobia working a channel. (seen Here) with fish ranging from 10 – 25 lbs.

Capt. Kyle Walsh of Dream Catcher Charters also got into it today with a nice assortment of sharks. Bull sharks are super prevalent this time of the year as well as lemon shark and Blacktip Sharks. Check out our Shallow Water Monsters Tour shark fishing trip if sharks are your game.

Offshore its pretty breezy but the sailfish are starting to push on through. Several nice sailfish have been reported just outside the reef eating live baits and showing off with huge jumps.. This weekend is the annual Kingfish tournament here in Key West. All the big battle wagons are here to line up for a shot at some nice prizes catching a decent kingfish. With lots of bait in town we expect this year the winning fish will be over 60lbs..

Deep Sea Fishing Heats Up As Temps Cool In Key West

Deep Sea fishing will be epic this week with the falling temps here in Key West.

Our Very Own Island Genn With A Nice Dolphin

I was talking with a couple of the “real” deep sea charter boat captains here in Key West about what they thought the last cold front would do for them in the way of fishing. Both of them said it should be awesome.

With he hard Northwesterly we had over the weekend and the upcoming East and South Easterly winds there will be a nice shift in patterns making the fish light up and close to shore. Those long runs wont be needed to get into Blackfin Tuna, Kingfish, Wahoo, Sailfish and as the South Easterlies kick up a big Winter time Dolphin (mahi Mahi). This, all just 7 miles from the dock.

The weather outlook this week looks like a perfect Christmas to go fishing..

Christmas week is a busy time for most charter boat captains here in Key West and scheduling is a must to get on one of the “real” Key West deep sea charter boats. The boats we work with are run by seasoned captains that know all about the shifts in conditions last minute and how to adapt quickly to turn it into a bountiful day on the water for their clients.

Keep in mind there is a lot of rif raf on the web these days of new guys that know how to market and tell you they have 20+ years of experience… Because they are from the midwest and used to fish for bass. Don’t be fooled by a super low charter fishing rate.. You get what you pay for..

Dolphin Fishing Key West

Sound like broken record, I know.. Spoke to Capt. Brice Barr on the Double Down this am and he is reporting sailfish on the reef and nice schoolie dolphin up to 12 and 15 lbs out to 800 feet.. Kinda breezy conditions prevale  offering some pretty good opportunities to get out there for some nice fish. Remember.. rough water can mean big fish.. You put in your time and it will pay off..

Inshore the tarpon fishing bite is still strong with the migration. Fly fishing for tarpon this week will be tough but permit on the flats will be strong with a nice push of bonefish through the week with this agitated water from our easterly breezes.

Fun fishing on the family fun trip will be a blast. Conditions are perfect.. Not to hot and good fishing to be had to make the whole family heros for the day in catching sharks, snappers, barracudas and many other surprises.. Our family fun trip caters to private groups of 6 or less and offers snorkeling, fishing, sight seeing and beach combing.. Basically whatever you want to do in a day on the water with us here at Dream Catcher Charters.

Busy weekend.. We are pretty much sold out through Monday but.. we know many other fishing guides in town and we will hook you up with the guys who know how to show you a great time on the water.. deep sea, wreck and reef, tarpon fishing, flats fishing and more. Give us a call we are answering the phones all weekend.. 1-888-362-3474…

Once again…. Thanks to our veterans to making all this possible.
