Key West Offshore Fishing Report
Sporty but fishable is the word today for offshore fishing here in Key West.
Winds out of the North East 10 -15 gusts to 20 on this fall day.. Blue water that means there may be a sailfish bite. Cooler waters means the food fish are in on the patch reefs and thats REALLY cool.
This time of the year is BANNER for bottom fishing. I am crazy about it. Cool days long runs and NICE fish. Grouper in the Atlantic are still in season with mutton snapper and yellowtails all over the place. Don’t need to run real far to catch fish but the farther you run the bigger they can get with less pressure.
I enjoy taking my clients out to the West toward the Dry Tortugas West of the Marquesas Keys this time of the year when weather cooperates. Red, black and Gag groupers with Mutton and yellowtail snappers to make for some very colorful catch boxes.
The muttons have moved on to the patch reefs gobbling up anything they can find. Ballyhoo are scarce so they are hungry and ready to eat just about anything you drop to them.
My 32′ Yellowfin “Intense” makes this trip a joy for 4 anglers or less. To learn more about this trip please feel free to call us.. 1-888-362-3474 and see what we can do for you.. Or check out my web site at Fishing Key West.
