Key West Fishing

Its hard to put into terms the incredible number of opportunities we have here in Key West to go fishing, but I will try. I cannot think of a place anywhere in the world that has all that Key West does for a fishing destination.

Situated between two major bodies of water Key West has it all when it comes to a healthy place for fish to congregate, live and be caught. Frankly an engineer could not put together a better place with all things considered than Key West.

A Little About Key West

In Spanish its called Cayo Hueso (Bone Cay or Island Of Bones) Key West Is the name of a city situated on several smaller islands. Surrounded by smaller uninhabited islands and then by the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Water flows through these islands constantly breathing life into every facet of eco culture. On land even you don’t have to look far to see the effects the surrounding waters have on our little island community.

Located at the end of the Overseas Highway Mile Marker 00 Key West is not the end of the road, but the beginning of a fisher persons paradise. With loads of easy access to the waters surrounding her we have big marinas and loads of houses on the water with docks behind them many hanging on to boats that go fishing.

With all the major resorts represented with a slough of guest houses, vacation rentals and b&bs Key West is very easy to stay at and enjoy all the lush tropical atmosphere a tropical island can provide. Getting here is super easy too. Drive a car from mainland Florida down the overseas highway or fly into our Key West International Airport. Folks can also get to Southwest Florida and and take a Ferry down from Ft Myers or Marco Island that come right into downtown Key West.

Key West Fishing Diversity

I know of no where else that a person can drive to, be in the continental United States, have access to all the facilities of home, stay at a nice resort, eat at delicious Key West restaurants wake up in the morning and have the ability to fish inshore and offshore in a single day if they wanted to. Or have a shot at a flats grand slam (tarpon, permit, bonefish) one day and then an offshore grand slam (dolphin, Wahoo, sailfish) the next all from the same dock.

Welcome To Key West. We have all that great fishing right here and more. Not to mention the Fishing Guides and fishing charters to get you out there.

Our Key West fishing seasons are dictated by the weather and seasonal changes more than anything else. Year round Key West always has amazing fishing for something. Literally you can wake up on a given day and your hardest choice will be what to go fishing for today.

Key West Inshore Fishing

World class flats fishing for tarpon permit and bonefish has made Key West inshore fishing famous. Backcountry fishing is the most popular way for many anglers to go fishing targeting everything that lives in the shallow water sun such as barracudas, tarpon, sharks, cobia, snapper and trout just to name a few. Bending a fishing rod is easy and one can get lost in the number of species that are available in less than 15 ft of water, calms seas and world class scenery.

Key West Offshore Fishing

Just offshore is our amazing reef line that holds an abundance of food and trophy fish. Deep sea fishing for Palegic species such as dolphin, wahoo, tuna, marlin and sword fish are all within a quick boat ride. The reef is just 5 miles to our South and holds a huge number of food fish such as yellowtail snapper, mutton snapper, mangrove snapper, red grouper, black grouper and scamp for our A-team list.

So, as you can see. Key West truly has it all for a fishing destination. All you have to do is get here and enjoy it. We have everything you need to enjoy your time both On and Off the water. Fishing for or eating your catch. I promise Key West will provide you a time to remember.
