Favorable Weather Keeps The Fishing Red Hot In Key West

Mutton Snappers A Tasty Delight

Inshore, Offshore, wrecks, reefs and flats the fishing is very good in Key West, Florida.

Our wreck and reef full day trips here at Dream Catcher Charters have been providing our anglers with a great time hoisting up nice mutton snappers, red groupers, gag groupers, huge yellowtails and Mangrove snappers. Before we get out to the reefs for the food fish we have been starting off with a shot at some permit on the shallow water wrecks just west of the Marquesas Keys. Lots of fun for anglers of all skill levels and plenty of food fish to enjoy a nice dinner at one of our local restaurants here in Key West to cook your catch. Check out The Key Wester – Island Genns restaurant guide to see about selections here.

Tarpon fishing is still in full fire force. Our trips are putting anglers in front of tarpon every minute of the day with great opportunities with perfect weather for live bait, fly and artificial. Permit Key West Wrecks in April with Capt. Steven Lamp

Inshore backcountry and flats – Are off the rail this week. The permit seem to still be on the flats and not quite off to spawn. I have been seeing some fish on the reefs but not the hoard that we will see on full spawn that will happen later this month. The flats never really lose ALL the permit during the spawn, in fact, checking my logs some of my largest flats caught permit were caught in April. Grouper season opens up on May 1st. Add grouper to your catch and keep list and have a cornucopia of Florida Keys sea food. I will be running select trips to the west for some serious bottom fishing for these species.
