Grouper Bite Is Epic Off Key West

Tastes Just Like Chicken.. NOT....

Key West grouper fishing has been epic off of Key West. Weather permiting the long runs to the West are paying off in huge dividends at Dream Catcher Charters.

Yesterday I set out with four anglers during the peak of the full moon, knowing the mutton snapper bite and possibly the mangrove snappers would not eat all that well after tanking up last night in the drunkenness of the full moon light getting their freak on.. But for some reason my red grouper fishing is usually epic during this moon phase..

Fishing in 65 – 100 ft of water the bite was none stop and the fish were good sized. (See Photo). Eating live pin fish, white buck tail jigs, vertical butterfly jigs as well as frozen ballyhoo. We set our boat limit to 26 inches and had no issues with making a 4 person bag limit of red groupers up to 12 lbs.

Sea conditions yesterday were perfect. The wind was bout 10 knts out of the SW with an opposing current that made the drifts nice and slow. Never once did I drop an anchor.

NOTE: anchoring in these areas is not only a PITA, but also a damaging effect to the coral that hold these fish. I try to anchor as little as possible.

I run this trip on my 32 Ft Yellowfin Center Console. Its a full day trip that can be custom tailored to fit your budget. My customers own every fish they catch…. Too book this adventure call my office 1-305-292-7212 or email me.. captsteven@me.com

Using the Saltiga line of spinning reels Called the Dog Fight  and conventional reels from Daiwa as well as Daiwa braid. Key Largo rods makes my sticks (Thanks Rick)and they are bad to the bone. Calcutta makes the fluorocarbon that I use which IMO is the secret to the larger red grouper and the mutton snappers. Owner hooks and well maintained tackle ensure you have the best day possible.
