Hurricane | Tropical Storm Isaac

Hurricane, Tropical Storm Isaac for Key West and the Florida Keys.

Thursday Morning 5 day Forecast

Hello From the Tropics.

All is good here so far. As you can see the storm is a ways out there but getting “spooled” up. We have not seen Jim Cantore or the Weather trucks yet so we still have time. LOL

Here is the reality as we see it so far.. Today at Dream Catcher Charters we have started to make preparations for a Category I possibly a II hurricane to be on our door step by early Monday morning or Sunday night. There is a 75% possibility of this..

Key West Visitors – If I were you and I were planing on being in Key West from Now through Tuesday.. Do what you can to cancel your plans. Be on the safe side. Hit or no hit we will experience less than awesome Key West weather. Unless you are a Kite boarder, storm chaser or want to attend some of the best hurricane parties EVER.. Don’t expect us to be fishing, diving or much of anything except drinking.

From A Storm Seasoned Locals Standpoint.. A Cat I and low Cat II is not the end of the world for us. In fact, we are quite used to it.. We will lose our tourists for a while and have to trim a tree or two after the blow. We have no plans of leaving as any Well Seasoned local should, unless the house they live in is not stable. The direction of this storm will offer some bashing water on the south side of Key West but no serious tidal surge as seen from Wilma in 05′. The hurricane Isaac is coming from a good (if there was such a thing) direction for us.

Intensification — They (weather heads) are calling for a Cat I. I can go along with this, but… It may be a II. The straits of Florida are very warm right now and Isaac is on track to take the long way from North Cuba to Key West offering a little more time to “spool” up.

More details as they come..
