A huge yellowtail snapper caught Key West reef fishing with Capt. Steven Lamp

January 15th 2017 – A really good weather pattern is coming up this week for a great shot at some Key West reef fishing without the Ass beating that can come with our typical winter days. The last few days have been pretty windy but this coming week looks like the winds will go Southerly and lay down making the seas nice and calm. This will open up lots of opportunities for folks to get out on the reef and enjoy a fun day of fishing without the hassle of larger seas that can come with it.

Lately the yellowtail snapper bite has been very good with a nice mixed bag of mutton snappers and mackerel. Grouper season is closed till May but in my opinion the real gold is the snappers. It looks like this week we will have a good chance at getting out to the reef on our bay boats. This is an extremely affordable option for many that just want to catch some fish to a local “hook and cook” restaurant with rates starting at just 450.00 for 2 persons on a 4 hour trip.

Another trip that may be of interest is our All In Wonder fishing charter. This offers our anglers the best of all the worlds that we fish from our bay boats. Flats, Backcountry, Mid reef, wrecks and the outer reef. A great way to get the most for your day of fishing here in Key West. We offer this trip starting at 800.00 for 2 persons and the full day. Species that could be expected this week in that trip would include; Tarpon, permit, big jacks, big yellowtail snappers, possible cobia, big barracudas, cero mackerel, king mackerel and mutton snappers.

The tides look really good for the reef fishing this week coming up. If you are going to be in town looking for a fun day of Key West fishing drop us a line and we will Hook you Up!
