Tarpon Fishing Report June 14

June Tarpon Fishing report for Key West

Tarpon Jump Jumping Tarpon Key West

June 14 2018 – Hot and sweaty are the words of the morning first thing when we get ready to head out to the backcountry to go tarpon fishing here in Key West.  I often tell folks that if you have a sweat mustache, there will be tarpon. Lately I have not been wrong, entirely. Weather pattern seems to be holding through the end of the month here in Key West giving us summer like conditions and thinning out the heard of fishing guides and rec anglers for tarpon fishing in Key West.

The last week had the new moon phase and some pretty strong tides. There were tarpon around but the bite was limited to the early morning and late evenings. Not a great bite at that. I must say I have seen many better tarpon fishing seasons here in Key West than what we have had this year.

The last of this week and into the next, look for more of the same with a better tarpon fishing bite. Summer conditions mean calm clear waters so sight fishing for them will be great. With the calmer clear waters also expect a more difficult bite as the tarpon tend to be much more aware of their surroundings. We will still be using artificial, fly and live baits such as crabs and pin fish for our tarpon fishing here in Key West.

June is usually a slow down month for us here at Dream Catcher Charters for Key West fishing but this month seems to be holding up nicely with strong bookings for backcountry fishing charters and tarpon fishing. Give us a call and lets get you on the books for a day of sight fishing for tarpon.
