Deep Sea Fishing Report
Deep sea fishing report for Key West Tuesday October 7, 2025. For the past 30 years that I’ve been fishing here in Key West I have seen October show up with many faces weather wise. Some years it seems that hurricane season just won’t let go and we get tropical conditions all the way into November. This year October is providing amazing, calm conditions, and decent deep sea fishing.
Fishing Report
I fished my 47 Viking the INXS all the way through yesterday with great results for this time of year. A mixed bag of mahi, wahoo, and black fin tuna with the occasional large barracuda. Yesterday for example, I moved my Tripp departure back to 10 AM due to the full moon. I have found in the past that Mahi-mahi get fed up all night long when they can see really good due to the full moon – my bet paid off. We racked up six nice dolphin lost several others and had a nice shot at a Sailfish who came in and destroyed two of my baits. We dropped back and hooked him three times but Just could not seal the deal. The folks that were fishing with me, got a chance to see it all, he was pretty lit up. Super exciting.
My fishing charters before that into last week we were managing some nice sized blackfin tuna mixed in with the mahi-mahi that were scattered in among the grass. I really didn’t have to go very far to get into the fish, which made it nice for the four hour trip that I ran, and then the six hour trip that I ran shorter runs mean longer fishing times when I’m deep sea fishing on board INXS.
Deep Sea Fishing Charters
Deep sea fishing for me on the INXS has been very good these last few weeks we have been very fortunate. The current is nonexistent close to the reef, and as we moved offshore, it goes to the west so that tells me the gulf stream is still way offshore. Creativity is necessary birds, weed combination of both as how we’ve been getting by. Offering a fishing forecast at this point would be purely speculation based on hopes and dreams more than actual data. We have seen the mahi stick around all the way through December in the past and we often catch large mahi in the fall and the beginning of winter. This time of year we start looking at wahoo Sailfish and black Fenn tuna with a little bit more diligence and mahi becoming a welcome bi catch. Once it starts getting cold in November king Fish start grabbing some of our attention for really hard, fast rod, bending excitement.
Booking a Key West fishing charter time of year it’s pretty easy. There are a lot of boats with open days even in my schedule. It’s typically our slow season this time of year. Of course we have fantasy Fest coming up around the 17th which will bring lots of visitors to the island, not necessarily here to Fish, but it does jack up the room rates for places to stay in Key West. Many of our anglers look at the new moon and a full moon for decent wahoo opportunities here off of Key West. Might be something to think about. Late November to December will definitely hold better Sailfish opportunities as well
