Key West Tarpon Fishing Report February 4th

Key West Tarpon Fishing

Tarpon Time

Its that time of the year, were we start to do our updates on what we are seeing out there for tarpon on our day to day basis here in Key West at Dream Catcher Charters. As our regular clients know, here in Key West, no other tarpon fishing guide or charter service using live bait or artificial techniques provides more tarpon to the side of the boat for their clients than Dream Catcher Charters. We pride ourselves in the ethical handling practices of these great fish and teaching our clients how to battle them quickly, and safely.

Here is some tarpon Porn for you all ready to come down here and tackle a beast..

Fish are here. The weather is a bit sporty this week with winds pushing 25 and 30 from the
east and southeast but the temps are up this means good water temps and the fish will react to that very well.

Today we are looking at some areas where we start to see fish in the first part of the year. As we suspected these areas are holding good populations of fish but being a bit finicky. Some crushed baits and one jumped pig of a fish was our return for about 1.5 hours of look and see.

Last week one of our guides here at Dream Catcher Charters, Capt. Kyle jumped a monster fishing deep in a ditch (channel) off a large live bait and a hunch. Fish was a beast, suspected to be well over 100lbs. Not quite a release as he tossed the hook before a leader shot was made.

Forecast – The weather next week is favored to be laying down. Good news as it will also get unseasonably warm. This will produce EPIC winter conditions for tarpon fishing and probably start our season off very early this year. THAT SAID. When you call us here at Dream Catcher Charters to book our tarpon fishing trips we will not book this time of the year based on a tarpon only trip.. We will give it a try but 4 hours in a ditch somewhere trying to get a bite on a fish that may not eat is not our idea of a successful fishing charter, so other ingredients will have to make the client happy.
