Backcountry Fishing Warm Christmas Week.

Cero Mackerel. Capt. Brandon of Dream Catcher Charters with a Nice Cero Mackerel his angler caught..

Cero Mackerel.

December 23 2015 – Warm Christmas week brings amazing conditions for fishing the Key West backcountry and flats.

All I want for Christmas is a shot at one moreĀ tarpon for 2015. Well, that could be a thing. With South Easterly breezes, high humidity added too a balmy 82 degree high temps and lows not much less in the evening. As I write this our guys here at Dream Catcher Charters have been working a group of tarpon and two were jumped first thing this am only to spit the hook. None the less, a December tarpon! We are using live baits and Hogy Lures for our shots at the mighty tarpon.

Don’t book a backcountry fishing charter just for a shot at tarpon. We also have permit still on the flats with large barracudas working the edges looking for an easy meal. Backcountry fishing means lots of things to different anglers especially in the winter. Traditionally trout are on the list this time of the year but I have to say, its been slow with only a few trout caught this year and warmer temps will keep it that way. Other than that the Jacks, lady fish, pompano, larger mangrove snappersĀ and sharks are showing our anglers a great day on the waters here off of Key West and rounding out a nice day of fishing in the higher than normal winds keeping folks from getting beat up and seasick.

To book a backcountry fishing charter especially this week… CALL SOON.
We have limited availability and only one trip left for Christmas day. (yes we have trips on Christmas).
