Reef Fishing Is Good Bet
September 21st 2016 – Summer is pretty much over but the temps and the fair weather continue here in Key West. Flat calm conditions make it easy to get to the reef and enjoy catching some nice table fare for lunch and or dinner..
The yellowtail snapper bite has been very good these last few weeks with some sizable fish up to 4 lbs being caught on the top of the reef without having to go deep at all. Along with the great yellowtail bite we have also enjoyed some really good mutton snapper fishing as well. They are eating the artificial lures we are throwing while drifting one the shallow spots.
Moving inshore toward the patch reefs there has also been a strong grouper bite. Legal sized red grouper are prevalent along the edges and in the rocks of the many patch reefs that dot the waters between the islands of Key West and the reef line. We call this area Hawks Channel and its full of life as well as easy to get to.
Our charters for reef fishing this time of the year here at Dream Catcher Charters are very affordable. Because of the lighter winds we are able to get out to the productive reef spots and catch some fish using our bay boats. Fishing Rates start at just 450.00 for 2 persons for 4 hours.
