Yellow Jack

Fishing Key West here at Dream Catcher Charters here nice looking Yellow jack one of my anglers caught with me.

December 21 2016 – All I want for christmas is… To go fishing! The backcountry fishing bite here in Key West, Florida has officially been on fire these last couple of weeks. All of the channels and basins are full of overly aggressive jacks that will attack just about everything on sight. They take the cake when your looking for a fish to pull some drag. Our speckled sea trout are making a grand appearance as well. Santa and his Elf’s have been working hard to bring all of our winter time dreams to life. So I hope you have been nice this year.

Here at Dream Catcher Charters we will make sure that you get to play with all of the nicest toys available out there on the water. Top of the line Diawa rods and reels fresh out of saints workshop. Along with our fully rigged Yellowfin Bay Boats powered by Mercury Marine. It truly is Christmas time! The weather this December has been amazing! Light winds and temps around 80 degrees. It may not feel like a chilly Christmas but the fish sure don’t seem to mind!.

On the shark fishing front, big sharks are still prowling the flats looking for snacks. Lots of lemon sharks and black tips with the occasional bull shark. These guys are a blast. And talking about toothy critters. I expect the Barracuda bite to get better and better as the winter time goes on. This truly is an amazing time to come down and bend a rod.

This time of year is most famous for the mind blowing variety of fish that make an appearance in the backcountry here in Key West. You truly never know what your going to run into out there! There are a couple more days of grouper season left and the snapper bite has been great as well. Yellow jacks have been my go to fish for table fair as of late. Big strong beautiful fish that pull like a mac truck!. Pompano are in town and I saw my first bluefish a couple of days ago. If the winds are down do not be afraid to ask Island Genn to go to the reef! The reef fishing bite out there has been phenomenal as well. The list goes on forever! Just give us a call and Steve or Island Genn will be able to answer any questions you have. We offer 4, 6, or 8 hour charters and can customize the trip to almost whatever you want to do. Happy Holidays!
