March 9th 2018 – Its no surprise to anyone up North that we have had some March cold fronts. Here in Key West we get the tail end of them right here passing through our area and affecting our fishing.

Tarpon Fishing Report

The bite for Key West tarpon fishing has followed the weather and cooled considerably. Cooler water temps and North winds will shut down a tarpon bite like a door being slammed in the wind. Today the winds are Northerly and a chill in the air with water temps dropping below 70 degrees for the first time in over a month. This kind of chill will help the tarpon season in April but smash anglers dreams this week expecting a shot at an early season tarpon.

The weather is going to stay cooler through next week till about Friday. I expect the tarpon fishing to improve there after.
