WOW—-What a close to the fishing month of February of 2011. We are off to a great year.

Things are snapping here pretty quick with full loads of anglers headed out to “live the dream” here on our waters off the shores of Key West.

Mostly flats and backcountry fishing charters as the tarpon bite has heated up and everyone wants to play. Fish in the 60 – 100 lb range are roaming around quite regularly and more are coming in as our offshore reports say they have seen them in droves coming fro the South West along the patch reefs headed for Key West. This is a great sign for our anglers coming up in March for Tarpon.

Our anglers yesterday reported catches of pompano, bonefish, mangrove snappers, bull sharks, sawfish, tarpon, permit, lane snappers, dog snappers, lady fish, blue runners, red fish, barracudas and a cobia.. Great fishing if you ask me. Because Dream Catcher Charters has such a tight nit group we are able to cover more water with separate boats and then make sure all the boats get lit up with fishing action. The backcountry is still packed with many species to chose from. In fact.. today one of our anglers is celebrating his 50th birthday with his son and wants to try and catch 50 species of fish. I think it is possible, especially counting the head start he got fishing with Bamboo Charters out of Islamorada.

The weather is I am afraid to say.. Perfect.. and looks like we will have this through March as the fronts just are not making it to us. Still nice and cool with light winds out of the South East and temps in the 80’s. Like I said…. Perfect.
