Deep Sea Fishing Report And Forecast

Sailfish Ultra Grand Slam with Capt. Craig Jiovani. Nice Sailfish.

November 23rd 2013 – Deep sea fishing report and Forecast for Key West and the Lower Florida Keys.

It’s time to give the good lord our thanks for the the last couple weeks have been on fire in the blue waters off of Key West. Our sport fishing fleet here has been reporting some fantastic catches almost every day giving their anglers a fun day of fishing for their hard earned money.. The deep sea fishing in November and December is very good for many reasons.. The early season sailfish, the November blackfin tuna bite comes on, the reef fishing is awesome and the full moon wahoo potential is HUGE..

Some Fishing Highlights From Last Week

Hammerhead Shark

Huge Hammerhead Shark hooked by the crew of the Ultra Grand Slam with Capt. Craig Jiovani.

Capt Craig Jiovani of the 49ft  Ultra Grand Slam out of Key West Charter Boat row. reported an excellent early season sailfish bite was had all last week. Fish from 25 – 50 lbs were reported released. Also Capt. Craig and his crew got into some HUGE hammerhead sharks that you see here in Photo. Capt Craig has a special knack for running a low riding bait to compound on the bite for mutton snappers, grouper and whatever else might come along making a colorful and tasty box of fish at the end of the day. When I was on the phone with Capt. Craig getting his fishing report he sounded very enthused about this past weeks fishing and the forecast of things to come during the Thanksgiving day holiday.

Capt. Joe Mercurio of the 47′ sport fishing boat “Triple Time” was out with his mate Heath all last week and the week before tearing it up for our anglers. One days account they had released 4 for 6 sailfish, caught some blackfin tunas and a nice gaffer dolphin. Thats just one day. Other days we have heard similar reports from Capt. Joe who is a 30+ year veteran charter boat guide here out of Key West.

Capt. Rob Harris runs our Luxury flag ship deep sea boat “Easy Rider” an 80′ sport fishing boat out of Oceanside marina. He has been fishing our clients several times these last two weeks with big results. Sailfish, blackfin tuna and bonito. fun times for everyone on board. Capt. Rob also works the reef bite very well too. When the trolling gets slow Capt. Rob sets up on the reef and uses the Easy Rider as a fishing platform to catch yellowtail snappers, mackerel and grouper..  Capt. Rob loves to get people out there fishing.. His passion is amazing and he, like all of our deep sea guys is a veteran.

Deep Sea Fishing Forecast

November is coming to a close. Thanks giving week holiday is looking very busy for all the fishing charters in Key West. We have some cold fronts coming through this week. Starting tomorrow (Sunday the 24th) there is a big one making its way down from the NW. This will offer a huge blow and stir things up with over 30 mph winds out of the NE on Monday laying down by Tuesday. That means the Sailfish and Tuna will turn on Sharp even better than last week. the reef bite will also improve with the cooler water temps and the churned up conditions. A little chillier after Wednesday the 27th will be the spark to light the Thanksgiving day Fire…
