Summertime Backcountry Fishing
Backcountry fishing is great here in Key West during the summer.

July 13 2019 The weather patterns are offering up the norm here in Key West with S and SE winds and temps in the mid to upper 80s with some days reaching 92 degrees. Nothing out of the norm for the Southernmost city here right on the edge of the tropics.. This time of the year the weather really opens up some possibilities in our fishing, especially on the smaller boats..
Fishing Report
On our backcountry fishing charters here out of Key West at Dream Catcher Charters anglers have been getting some decent shots at tarpon lately. Not a bunch of fish being caught but about every day we are jumping a tarpon or two on our fishing charters. We know that after about 9 am the tarpon fishing can get very tough with the heat so our fishing guides have been setting the day up for some rod bending action to entertain our guests. Yellow jacks, jack crevasse, nice size barracudas on top water, Huge lady fish, with bonefish and permit on our flats fishing. Most of our trips have been 6 hours or less due to the heat but we are able to get it done and show folks a fun day on the water.
Fishing Forecast
I expect the weather to remain roughly the same right on through the forecast period now through July 20th. The weather looks perfect for shallow water fishing with some decent winds out of the South East steering many folks to the inshore fishing with rougher conditions offshore, even though the deep sea fishing bite for Mahi Mahi has been good on the full day deep sea fishing charters.

Anglers can expect to get shots at tarpon first thing in the morning and then start to hunt the flats for some rod benders like barracudas and jacks for some fun. A great way to spend the day.
For the flats fishing enthusiast that wants to challenge themselves to a trophy. The permit fishing has been outstanding along with bonefishing. Our flats fishing guides are happy to get you out there and show you the fish and what it takes to catch them.
