Tarpon Fishing Report

August 13 2020 – The Weather is perfect for the tropics. With seasonal rains sliding through the area the humidity is up with the temps and winds are down. Oily slick calm days are on tap regularly. Water temps are normal with this week having a slower tide flow due to the timing between Full and new moons.

Fishing Report

We have not seen very many good wads of tarpon moving about this last week. There are some juvenile tarpon starting to show up in certain areas but I think it is still too hot for them to be in strong numbers. This weeks tarpon fishing report is lack luster for us here at Dream Catcher Charters. Nobody likes a slow fishing report but.. We keep it real here..

Tarpon fishing forecast

I expect as we get near the new moon over the weekend some tarpon will start to show up and give our anglers some shots. It is not uncommon for us to have tarpon lurking around all the way through October here in Key West. I look forward to better fishing.

Other Fish To Fish For

yellowtail snapper with fisherman
Sometimes we can sneak out to the reef after tarpon fishing to catch some yellowtail snappers

The flats fishing for bonefish and permit has been excellent. All of our days start off with us looking for tarpon and ultimately winding up on the flats sight fishing. We also are having a great time tossing top water baits at barracudas and on the less windy days we can get to the reef for some tasty food fish such as yellowtail and mutton snapper..

August is a great time to go fishing in Key West. Check out our fishing season page to learn more. We are happy to get you out there and show you a great day on the nicest boats in Key West.
