New Years Fishing Forecast
December 28th 2013 – Christmas is behind us and the new year is coming super fast now. We have been running fishing charters every day throughout the holiday period. Here is a Christmas New Years recap and Forecast.
The last few days have been holding decent weather with some rain mixed in on Christmas day. No biggie though as the temps were in the 70’s and people still made the most of the tropical Christmas holiday here in Key West.
Fishing across the board was pretty decent with some sails on the reef with a strong bite of blackfin tunas. Good reports of kingfish finally showing up with some nice catches in the 30 – 40 lb range. Winds out of the ENE have been rushing right down the reef keeping it a bit sporty.
Inshore the speckled sea trout bite stays strong with a few sharks around, jacks and some pompano making for rod bending fun. Sight fishing conditions are pretty bad so the flats have been slow to report that last few days. But our backcountry fishing charters are without a doubt the bell of the ball when it comes to visiting anglers getting on the waters.
Forecast has the weather staying the same with Easterly winds through Today shifting to SE on Sunday coming down to 10-15 . Monday looks very nice at 5-10 with a shift from the North On Tuesday ushering in our next cold front with 60 percent chance of rain on Tuesday and temps drop to lower 70’s .
We have a few slots open for backcountry fishing. And lots of space for deep sea fishing.
