March 15 2015 – The ides of March have given us a break for the visible next 7 days and the deep sea fishing has already responded to it with some fun early season catches of dolphin, sailfish and wahoo.

Capt. Craig Jiovani  the Captain of the Ultra Grand Slam out of Key West reported dolphin yesterday. Great fun to catch and amazing food fare. Capt. Craig was fishing South of Key West just past the reef to conjure up these fish and said his folks really got into it. This was a great addition to an already great week with wahoo and tuna for his charters. Capt. Craig has been fishing Key West waters as long as I can remember 30 years or more and treats his folks to a nice time on the water every time.

Just got off the phone checking in with Capt. Billy Wickers of the charter boat Linda D out of Key West. Last week they did well on some larger dolphin managing some nice catches. Today he is in the hunt for floating debri or some birds working the blue waters to get his bite on. Capt. Billy said the reef bite has also been great as well with nice catches of AmberJack on the wrecks and Yellowtail snappers on the reef.

March typically holds a mixed bag of species for fishing here in Key West. Dolphin are not uncommon and should get more numerous and larger as the weeks progress into April and May. Added to that tasty bite also expect some nice sailfish numbers to start showing up as well. Spring and early summer are a very busy time for our offshore deep sea fishing fleet out of Key West. Call in advance to book your trip. We offer 4, 6, and 8 hour days. This time of the year we recommend you at least book a 6 hour trip to get the most from your money in a day of fishing with these deep sea fishing captains so they can do their thing.
