February 23rd 2018 – We Do Sharks.. In the winds from last week our Key West shark fishing was pretty damn good. With the warmer temps the big bulls, lemons and black tips are making their way to the flats. I feel like the bulls are getting ready to spawn which is a great way to get on some good sized sharks. This will continue for another 3 months. After the bulls spawn then the nurse sharks and lemons do their thing. Thats when the bull sharks stick around for tarpon season for the Feast.

We offer a signature fishing charter called the Shallow Water Monsters shark fishing tour here at Dream Catcher Charters. Its our shark fishing trip. This time of the year is a great time to go. We found that there are many folks who love to fish with us and catch sharks so I put together a charter back in 2003 that specialized in this.

This is a backcountry fishing charter where the waters are calm, clear and shallow. We use our 24 ft bay boats for this and can take groups numbering up to 4. Casting for toothy critters such as jacks, blue fish, blue runners and lady fish for some light tackle entertainment and Bait. Nothing like a bleeding live bait to bring in the sharks. After that, we head to the shallow flats to start ringing the dinner bell putting blood in the water. Now, keep in mind, its only 3-5 ft deep and easy to see the bottom. Here come the sharks. Baited up with a live bait drifting over the flats the sharks will tackle these baits and eat them. Its actually quite awesome and we as shark fishing guides never get tired of seeing it. With our Daiwa Rods and reels our anglers have an excellent chance of bringing a beast of a shark boat side that might weigh as much as 300 lbs. Its quite a thrill.

Note: we always use barbless steel hooks and release all of the sharks we catch unharmed. No exceptions.
