Super Weather Means Awesome Fishing
Key West Fishing Report – July 11th 2013
We are into the summer pattern once again here in Key West. The weather is epic and the fishing here at Dream Catcher Charters keeps getting better.
Summer time means excellent flats and backcountry fishing here in Key West. Our water temps rarely ever get too hot to offer our anglers great shots at some serious sport fish such as tarpon, permit and bonefish. We can always find a tide that is offering a cooling condition and ample fishing.
Tarpon this time of the year are a first thing in the morning thing. We get after them before 10 am and things are going quite well. Capt. Tommy, Capt. Kelso and Capt. Kyle have all been posting a release a day here since the rains and winds have stopped. Lots of fish are being caught on artificial lures such as Hogy and MirroLure. What a fun way to catch such an awesome fish!
On the flats we are coming off the new moon and things are really incredible with all the flow. Tailing permit are not hard to find but making the connection in flat calm conditions is a hard way to fish with lots of denials. I am the resident flats fishing guide here at Dream Catcher Charters and I am ready to roll with anyone who wants to fish the shallows here from Big Pine Key to Key West. I am Capt. Steven Lamp. You can learn more about me at www.fishingkeywest.com.
Nearshore fishing the patch reefs has been STELLAR.. We have been tossing plugs at grouper and snapper and having a blast.. Check out our All IN Wonder fishing charter to learn more about this exciting trip.
